Moving & Handling and Trusted Assessor Trainer

Description

We are seeking a passionate, experienced training professional to join our evolving Adapt & Live team.

Adapt & Live are a busy, well-established training provider of Moving and Handling, Trusted Assessor and associated training to a wide range of audiences. The primary focus of this role will be delivering and developing training – primarily around the Greater Manchester region, with occasional wider travel a possibility.  You will work alongside colleagues to design new training opportunities and grow Adapt & Live’s training offer in partnership with the NHS, local authorities and the commercial sector.

As well as training, you will support service users of the charity, applying your expertise by providing information and advice via our helpline, and providing in-centre and home-based assessments.

About Disabled Living

Disabled Living is a charity that provides support, advice and information, helping people to live with comfort, safety and independence for as long as possible. The Adapt & Live team delivers high quality, impartial advice, occupational therapy services, moving and handling training and assessments to service users, carers and professionals.

Days/Hours: 2-4 days per week. Flexible — we welcome conversations about working patterns that suit the right candidate

Key Responsibilities

Training

• Plan and deliver Moving and Handling, Trusted Assessor and associated training at a range of locations regionally and nationally
• Develop new training courses to meet evolving needs, ensuring application of best practice standards to new training audiences
• Work with management to identify and develop new training opportunities and programmes
• Contribute to the design and review of training materials to reflect best practice and current legislation

Specialist Advice

• Provide advice through the helpline service, responding to enquiries from members of the public, carers and professionals
• Carry out consultancy with stakeholders to develop services and products as part of partnership work
• Advise staff across services on best practice, legislation and accessibility

Outreach

• Develop Disabled Living’s network of organisations, support groups and services
• Produce information resources and articles to reach new and existing audiences
• Support colleagues in delivering exhibitions and events across the UK

Assessment

• Undertake occupational therapy and moving and handling assessments for clients and carers with a wide range of abilities and disabilities
• Make recommendations accounting for legal, financial and ethical considerations, with appropriate signposting
• Involve and consider the needs of relevant stakeholders including carers, family members, housing providers and other agencies

Information Management

• Complete assessment records, case notes and care plans in line with legislation, professional guidelines and organisational policy
• Contribute to commissioning and accreditation documentation
• Maintain accurate records on the Disabled Living CRM system

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from a range of professional backgrounds, including:

• Occupational Therapists (and OT Assistants with relevant experience)
• Physiotherapists
• Specialist Moving and Handling Trainers/Advisors
• Trusted Assessor-qualified practitioners
• Nurses with a community or rehabilitation background
• Professionals from other relevant fields with the required expertise will be considered

The ideal candidate will have experience working with community equipment and/or moving and handling, with experience and enthusiasm for training. Experience of paediatric moving and handling training is desirable.
